Our Koh Phangan beach guide

Had Rin Nok and Had Rin Nai
The most well known beach on Koh Phangan is Had Rin and it is actually two beaches; Had Rin Nok on the South East is considered as one of the best beaches on Koh Phangan. The famous full moon party is held here every month and about 10.000 people comes here then. (30.000 during new year) but normally this is an almost paradise-like and relaxed place. Had Rin Nai is in South-West and is also called Sunset beach.

Ao Ban Tai and Ao Ban Khai
Two long nice beaches on the South-West coast of Phangan. The view is often extraordinary, especially at sunset. Perfect for beachwalking. View over Koh Samui.

Had Yao (West)
One of the most beautiful beach on this island and by some considered as one of the best in Thailand. It is about a kilometer long and rather wide and located on the North-West coast of the island. Perfect for beach sports and beach parties. Several good resorts and restaurants are located here.

Had Yao (East)
A relaxed beach in the South-East of the island, but it is accessible only by walk or by a taxi boat or a longtail boat.

Thong Nai Pan Noi and Thong Nai Pan Yai
Two very beautiful beaches in the North-East of the island. They are not so easy to reach, as there only is a partly roller coaster alike dirt road leading to them, but it can definitely be worth the "hassle".

A nice and safe alternative is to get here by boat from Had Rin. Although tourism has increased also on these parts of the island, you will not find that many beach chairs here at all.

Homesickness? I doubt it

Chalok Lum and Had Khuat
A nice and safe alternative is to get here by boat from Had Rin. Although tourism has increased also on these parts of the island, you will not find that many beach chairs here at all.Chalok Lum and Had Khuat
Chaloklum is originally a fisherman's village on the North of Koh Phangan. A short walk in rather rough terrain brings the visitor to the paradise like Had Khuat, or Bottle Beach in English. If you want to avoid this short jungle trek, there are also passenger boats operating between the beaches.

Mae Haad and Haad Salad
Are located in the North of Phangan and are, by some people, considered as two of the best beaches on the island. Relaxed atmosphere, fishy waters and white sand.

Other beaches
We also recommend Had Yuan in the South-East of Phangan, five kilometers from Had Rin. A nice and much more quiet experience for the one who spent a week or so on Had Rin.
